CMB lensing extraction and primordial non-Gaussianity

چکیده
The next generation of CMB experiments should get a better handle on cosmological parameters by mapping the weak lensing deflection field, which is separable from primary anisotropies thanks to the non-Gaussianity induced by lensing. However, the generation of perturbations in the Early Universe also produces a level of non-Gaussianity which is known to be small, but can contribute to the anisotropy trispectrum at the same level as lensing. In this work, we study whether the primordial non-Gaussianity can mask the lensing statistics. We concentrate only on the “temperature quadratic estimator” of lensing, which will be nearly optimal for the Planck satellite, and work in the flat-sky approximation. We find that primordial non-Gaussianity contaminates the deflection field estimator by roughly (0.1fNL)% at large angular scales, which represents at most a 10% contribution, not sufficient to threaten lensing extraction, but enough to be taken into account.

Galaxy-CMB and Galaxy-Galaxy Lensing on Large Scales: Sensitivity to Primordial Non-Gaussianity
A convincing detection of primordial non-Gaussianity in the local form of the bispectrum, whose amplitude is given by the ƒNL parameter, offers a powerful test of inflation. In this paper, we calculate the modification of two-point cross-correlation statistics of weak lensing—galaxy-galaxy lensing and galaxycosmic microwave background (CMB) crosscorrelation—due to ƒNL. We derive and calculate t...
متن کاملEffect of lensing non-Gaussianity on the CMB power spectra
Observed CMB anisotropies are lensed, and the lensed power spectra can be calculated accurately assuming the lensing deflections are Gaussian. However, the lensing deflections are actually slightly non-Gaussian due to both non-linear large-scale structure growth and post-Born corrections. We calculate the leading correction to the lensed CMB power spectra from the non-Gaussianity, which is dete...

Gravitational lensing of photons in the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) can be described by an integrated potential along the line of sight, the CMB lensing potential. Covariances in maps of the CMB are generated by the lensing effect, and are used to reconstruct the lensing potential itself, which is a useful probe of the matter distribution. The CMB lensing potential has been measured to hi...
متن کاملNon-Gaussian signature of weak gravitational lensing in the CMB
Inflationary cosmologies predict Gaussian primordial fluctuations, but subsequent gravitational lensing of the CMB disturbs its Gaussianity. Knowledge of the specific signature of lensing is necessary to distinguish a lensed Gaussian sky from an intrinsically non-Gaussian one. In this paper we investigate the pattern of non-Gaussian features in the CMB resulting from gravitational lensing, both...
متن کاملTests for primordial non-Gaussianity
We investigate the relative sensitivities of several tests for deviations from Gaussianity in the primordial distribution of density perturbations. We consider models for non-Gaussianity that mimic that which comes from inflation as well as that which comes from topological defects. The tests we consider involve the cosmic microwave background (CMB), large-scale structure (LSS), high-redshift g...
